Another Non-Update Update

Firstly, my sincere apologies for the very long delay in replying to emails. I am waiting for my computer to be repaired, and I haven't yet been able to transfer my Tulipfiction correspondence to the computer I'm presently using. (The data is backed up - it's just a matter of getting it organised on a different computer.) I look forward to catching up with you all as soon as I can.

Secondly, I'm sorry that there are no new chapters or stories ready to add to Tulipfiction at this stage. It is just a very busy (but blessed) time with the needs of family and homeschool at the moment but, Lord willing, I'll be continuing on with new chapters of Jacaranda Plains and new stories as soon as I am able.

May/June Update

2 Chapters Added to Jacaranda Plains

After another long stretch between updates, two new chapters have been added to Jacaranda Plains. Pick up the threads of the story from Chapter 43.

New Short Story - Titanic Decision

"You can only save one life - who do you choose and why?"

Sean Jones, a formidable force on the football field is reduced to quivering jelly by his fear of being in a plane crash. The story of one particular man who died on the Titanic gives his thoughts a new direction.

Main Navigation Pages Restyled

My very ad-hoc web design has not been ageing well, and didn't display properly in some newer browsers. I have attempted a quick fix by changing some of the coding and backgrounds of the main navigation pages and by simplifying some of the sections until I have more time to properly maintain the site. (None of the original story pages have been altered as yet.)

Do let me know if the pages don't display properly in the browser you are using.

Heart Notes Don't Work in Google Chrome

I have been trying out Google Chrome as a web browser recently and have discovered that it doesn't display the 'alternative text' for images. (The 'alt text' is the label that pops up when your mouse pointer hovers over an image.) This was the method I was using to add extra information, like Bible verses, via the Heart Notes - especially in Jacaranda Plains. While the extra information doesn't show in Google Chrome, the links (usually to the passage in an online Bible) still work.

I think I'll be able to fix this problem by adding a 'title text' tag to each Heart Note, but it will be some time before the Heart Notes in previous chapters are fixed.

That's it for now,
Rachel

Non-Update Update

And to think I thought it would be easier to post regular updates on a blog than on the Tulipfiction website . . . but, alas, it's never easy to post an update saying that there's nothing new as yet.

God has indeed blessed me with better health this year, for which I am extremely grateful, but the only downside is that being more physically active pretty much zapped any creative or mental energy. (I've been woefully slow answering emails too, I'm sorry.)

Just recently I've been starting to get back into writing again, so hopefully I'll make some more progress on Jacaranda Plains soon. No promises as to how long it will take to get more posted on the website, but Lord willing, I will get the whole story finished eventually.

If you want to save yourself the disappointment of checking the website in the meantime . . . just join up the Tulipfiction News notification group at Google Groups. I'll send out an email when there is something to share.

Website Fixed - I think . . .

My husband helped me reload the whole website (it wasn't as big a job as I'd anticipated) and it seems to be working - mostly. Last night it had disappeared again, this morning it was back, so I'll just hope for the best and keep and eye on things.

And now, back to some writing . . .

Tulipfiction Website Temporarily Down

Last night we returned home from a week away to find that the Tulipfiction website was gone! (Thank you to the kind reader who emailed to let me know.)

I contacted the site's webhost who emailed back to say that one of their servers had been recently attacked, and that I would need to reupload all the pages of Tulipfiction.

Sigh.

Very big sigh.

I do have all the webpages saved on my computer, but I anticipate it will be a very big job getting them all loaded up and working again. But, I know that God's hand is in this as in everything else, and will just buckle down and work on getting Tulipfiction up and running again as He gives me opportunity.

I expect that once all the pages are reloaded all the web addresses and links will be as they were before.

EMAIL

It looks like the Tulipfiction email accounts went west with the rest of the website, so in the meantime, if you would like to contact me please use the following:

Nothing New Yet . . .

But still looking out for every opportunity to get more writing done.

Updates In Progress

I’ve finally got a free FTP program that works with Vista up and running (Coffee Cup FTP), and am in the process of uploading the new chapters of Jacaranda Plains and updated index pages etc. It often takes me several attempts to get everything right (for some reason I don’t tend to notice the errors in my pages until they are online!) and then I will send out the update newsletter to Tulipfiction News Subscribers.

So if you stumble upon the new pages over the next day or so, don’t be surprised it they disappear and appear again a few times until I get myself sorted.
